Recipes | Salmon & Corn Chowder

We wanted to share this quick and easy nutritious meal. It’s a one pot dish, taken from the Annabel Karmel recipe book. A great winter warmer to feed all your family.

This recipe makes 5 portions, suitable from 6 months, prep time 10 mins, cooking time 20 mins, suitable for freezing.


1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, peeled and chopped
2 medium carrots, peeled and diced
1/2 stick celery, strings removed
1 medium potato, peeled and diced
1 small garlic clove, peeled and crushed
100ml unsalted vegetable stock or water
100ml milk
115g boneless salmon fillet, skinned and cut into small cubes
100g canned sweetcorn (with no added sugar or salt) packed in water, drained


  1. Heat the oil in a saucepan. Stir in the onion, carrot, celery and potato. Reduce the heat as low as possible, cover, and cook very gently for 10 mins, stirring occasionally. Add the garlic and stir for 30 seconds.
  2. add stock or water and bring to the boil, cover and cook for 8 mins until tender. Add the milk, salmon and sweetcorn, bring back to the boil, reduce heat again and cook gently for a further 2 mins.
  3. Puree until smooth in a processor or place in a bowl and use a hand blender. For older babies, mash with a fork.
  4. freeze in individual portions. When needed thaw overnight in the fridge or for 1-2 hours at room temperature, then microwave or reheat in a small pan until pipping hot. stir and allow to cool before serving.
