Whilst at work last week I was talking to my youngest charge about the lack of sunshine we’ve been having and what we can do to make ourselves feel better. He wanted to make something ‘sunny’. So we decided two things; firstly, we would make some bunting to encourage the sun to come out, and then when it does, we would have a sun party-evidence WILL follow soon!
We finally had a quiet afternoon in the Easter holidays to sit, make and paint and produced a beautiful string of brightly coloured, spring themed bunting that I wanted to share with you. It was such a lovely relaxed afternoon, and all the objects we made were thought of by my charge-I just provided the materials.
Our spring bunting to encourage the sun to shine was made from making carrots, hyacinths, snowdrops, peonies, daffodils and importantly a sun. We made each element from different art mediums such as egg boxes, felt, paper, straws and tissue paper and used rollers, duplo, paintbrushes and fingers to create it.
My charge loved creating this, with a little help from me to envisage it, but overall he wanted to do each item himself independantly, and at four years old I think he has done a pretty good job. Enjoy the photos and let’s all pray for sun!
