With Christmas just around the corner we’ve all been super busy preparing things for our little ones, make by Christmas decorations.. wrapping Christmas presents, attending Nativity plays.. the list goes on.. the one thing I hadn’t organised this year was a Christmas show to attend with my youngest, which is where the lovely New Wimbledon Theatre come in. We were invited to see ‘Santa’s Mixed-up Martian’ at the Time & Leisure Studio on Wednesday.
We were quickly transported to the North Pole – Santa’s workshop to be precise – where the show is set. We meet Ellie the Elf, Rudolph and Santa himself. We then heard the story of how a Martian ends up at the North Pole, and how to get him home.
“A friendly multi-coloured, mixed-up Martian who has made an emergency landing on Earth after he was blown off course by a solar wind, just as he was nipping out in his space scooter to buy a Mars bar. As always there will be plenty of chances for the children to join in with the action and sing along with their favourite songs’.
‘The show will also give children an opportunity to give their letter to Santa in person. Specially designed paper for the letter will be available on the day or can be downloaded from http://www.imaginetheatre.co.uk/santa-shows/
‘Steve Boden from producers Imagine Theatre says “There are lots of options for kids at Christmas but we are confident that they will love this show and that it offers great value for money for parents. The children get to join in with a really fun interactive show designed especially for their age group and then they get to meet Santa and get a present. We have had some fabulous feedback from children and parents over the years who really enjoy the shows and we are confident this will be another brilliant production.”’
For ages 2-6. Includes a gift for each child and a meet and greet with Santa himself!
What we thought…
The show is a very interactive performance with lots of singing and dancing. The 2 children, aged 2.5 we took loved the performance and thoroughly enjoyed joining in with the actions and singing the songs. The performance is the perfect length for young children – just 35 minutes, followed by the meet & greet with Father Christmas.
We particularly liked the special additions such as stickers and printed lists for Santa which the children can then give to Santa himself.
Even as a 29 year old, I giggled and sang along to this jolly show – what a lovely way to get you into the festive spirit. The best bit is.. the children get to meet to meet Santa / Father Christmas, after the performance.
The show is on from Thursday 14 – Sunday 24 December, with some days 4 showings. If you’re looking for a little pre-Christmas treat for our little ones book tickets here. Or you can call the box office on 0844 871 7646. We believe tickets are great value for money, young children are bound to love this show.
