Activities | Real Skittle Rainbow

We first published this activity as part of an “activities to do while dinner is in the oven’ post for our friends at Wild Child Kitchen. WCK deliver fresh and nutritious kids food around London and they also cater for events and parties. You can read our interview with their founder Natasha here.
We loved doing this activity so much we also wanted to share it with you guys over here.

Creating a real skittle rainbow

You will need
Skittles
Warm Water
White Dish

This is the perfect activity for a budding scienctist! Place the skittles around the edge of your dish. Add the warm water, then wait and watch what happens to the colours from the skittles. This is an extremely cool thing to watch. Why not experiment and try three dishes next to each other, one with cold water, one with warm and one with hot water and compare what happens to each.
