Today it’s time for another look at a book from our pocketnannies bookshelf. We’re big fans of Julia Donaldson and we’ve lost count of the amount of times we’ve read her books. Have you read Zog? We enjoyed the tale of the friendly Dragon.. Stand by for the sequel of Zog.
In the previous book the friendly Dragon and his two accomplices create the team of ‘Zog and the Flying Doctors’ and in this book we hear more about their adventures. Featuring some mythical creatures such as mermaids and unicorns, the team go on to help each creature they come across. Plus Princess Pearl’s poorly Uncle.
“Quick! Send for the Flying Doctors! They’ll soon sort out the problem, swooping down to the rescue on Zog, their trusty dragon-ambulance. But when the king himself falls ill can the Flying Doctors save him?”
The ever readable Julia Donaldson’s beautifully rhyming stories are illustrated (as usual) by Axel Scheffler. His illustrations are colorful and and fun. I always find the children I read her books to are captivated by the stories and pictures, even if they are relatively long stories.
The book gives out a lovely message that even princesses can be doctors. My four year old charge definitely got that message too. “Can real princesses be doctors, Sarah ?” To which I answered “Of course they can“!
Published in 2016 this is one of Donaldson’s latest books, you can buy it here.
