Out & About | What’s on in London this Summer.

Today we’re sharing with you some fun things we’ve spotted to do in London this summer. As you may have some days to fill… We’ve included lots of outdoor activities in hope that this wonderful hot weather continues.

Splashfest

On 7th August Splashfest at Battersea Park sounds great fun. There are obstacle courses and various stations set up around the park. The great news is profits go to the RNLI who are organising it. More info here.

Shakespeare’s Telling Tales

At the Globe Theatre you will find a whole host of activities going on.  From 29 July -31 July. The website quite simply says ‘Bring your family to Shakespeare’s Globe this summer and join us in celebrating the fun of storytelling at our Family Literary Festival’. There’s story-telling, workshops, performances, and more to enjoy. Check out the website here, for more info.

The Slide at the ArcelorMittal Orbit

If you’ve got brave children (aged 8 +) why not take them to the Slide at the ArcelorMittal Orbit – that’s the large structure at the Olympic Park. Tickets for children (aged 8 – 16) are priced at £10. Find out more just here.

Barnes Wetland Centre

There’s always lots to explore at the Wetlands Centre. There are play areas a plenty, otters to occupy the little ones, and so much space but the Wetlands also offer extra activities during the holidays. This Summer you can play Giant Top Trumps – which we think sounds great fun. Visit their website here for more.

London Z00

If you ever needed an extra excuse to visit ZSL London Zoo there are now new baby tigers to watch. They were born at the end of June. So they are still very small and cute. Check this video out and you won’t be able to resist a visit.

The Big Friendly Read

Do you need something calming and close to home? Why not get your children reading? The Big Friendly  Read is a perfect summer reading challenge, which you can read more about it in our post here. Head down to your local library to enrol your children in the Big Friendly Read. It’s a good summer holiday project to keep their inner bookworm glowing.

Beach East

If you fancy heading to the beach but can’t quite stand the sit in the car, why not head to Beach East which is at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It’s open from 23rd July until 4th September (perfect Summer holiday dates). Plus during the Olympics in Rio (from 6th-21st August 2016), BeachEast will be home to one of Team GB’s Official FanZones.

Flip Out

If your children still have lots of energy , (or even if that’s not the case) why not bundle them off to Flip Out trampoline park. It’s bound to be fun whichever is the case. There’s one which has just recently opened in Wandsworth for more information check their website here. We’re pretty keen to try it out ourselves.

Play Fountains

If you need to cool your little ones off we rounded up a list of places to do so in our ‘Play Fountains’ post just here.
